Steam, lots of steam. That's what you'll find in the geyser basins. It's a pretty wild landscape, seemingly otherworldly when you have the whole place to yourself. I shot this shortly after sunrise, when the sun was still low enougth to be blocked by the rising steam.

Photo Hints

For this shot I used my ND filter, let the camera meter the whole scene and then manually set the camera a stop under that. But a scene like this can really be exposed a number of ways to provide different views. This is a classic situation for bracketing (shooting a number of different exposures).
